So Real Madrid has a nice half-speed walkthrough and, seemingly as an afterthought, trounces Toronto by a score of 1-5.
It quickly became apparent that the key to beating these new Uber-Galacticos is to never, ever, let them touch the ball.
Toronto wasn't all-encompassingly awful, but they seemed to be psyched out, mentally freezing from fear every time a player in a white shirt had possession. Which was often.
But United's a better team than Toronto, right? Our South Americans have veteran experience to match their flair, so they're not going to panic and crack under pressure? Right? Hello?
(sound of crickets chirping)
I actually believe this to be true, and am willing to bet that our star players and promising youngsters are, for the most part, going to rise to the occasion. BUT (and who doesn't like a big but?) the prospect of the likes of Burch, Jacobsen, Janicki and Wicks having to survive the Spanish onslaught fills me with existential dread.
At least there will be beer.
