Goff is full of good news:
- The forecast for Saturday in Houston is 98 F with a heat index of 105;
- Rodney Wallace will sit out due to yellow card suspension; and
- United has never won at Houston in all competitions (0-3-1), never scored at Houston and all three goals conceded were scored by Brian Ching.
Fantastic. On the plus side, Santino Quaranta has been practicing and will be ready to play. Let's hope that the match doesn't prove to be a yawner marked by unimaginative tactics and poor ball skills that result in a give away leading to a stupid goal for the home side.
Not that I'm bitter or anything.
Soehn could start this formation, which shores up the defense a bit:
Namoff-----Jakovic---Janicki------Burch
-----------------Olsen-----------------
Quaranta---------------------------McTavish
-----------------Gomez-----------------
-----------Pontius---Emilio------------
Subs: Fred for Gomez, Moreno, the better of Szetela or Jacobsen for Olsen, Kocic, John, whoever.
However, I’d bet my big toe that Soehn goes with something like this:
----Namoff-----Jakovic------Burch
------------Olsen-----Szetela--------------
Quaranta---------------------------Fred
-----------------Gomez-----------------
-----------Pontius---Emilio------------
Fred in front of Burch is a recipe for calamity, and Szetela is obviously still finding his fitness and rapport with the team. Oh well.
Count on lots of hopeful longballs, Gomez getting gassed early, and Moreno looking tired almost immediately after entering the game.
Meanwhile, at least Houston should have a depleted Ching on Saturday, so maybe he won't score against us again. Maybe.
According to the number crunching of this guy, Houston sits atop the combined table. They are clearly on their way to this:
